Lakota West will again be offering ongoing support for students who have experienced the death of someone close to them. Beginning in October, Companions on a Journey will be in the building on the first Monday of each month at the Freshman campus and the first Thursday of each month at the Main Campus. All groups will meet for one hour during the lunch bell to provide support, encouragement, friendship, and hope to any student who has experienced a loss. If your student has been impacted by the death of someone close to them and you would like for them to participate in this wonderful in-school opportunity please contact Terri Brockman at

Schools are preparing for the possibility of H1N1 flu this year in addition to preparing for the regular seasonal flu. The Lakota School District is taking positive steps to prevent and reduce the spread of flu so that schools can function in a normal manner. We have posted information on Lakota OnLine, select “H1N1 Flu Information” under “Announcements" or click here. |

PSAT TESTING INFORMATION
- The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is a shorter version of the SAT. Designed as a practice test, it serves as a predictor of the score a student may be expected to receive on the SAT. The PSAT aids in early guidance of students planning for college, and serves as the qualifying test for scholarships awarded by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
- The PSAT is designed for high school juniors. We recommend that all college bound juniors take the test. Students who are particularly strong academically and who are potential National Merit qualifiers may benefit from the experience of taking the test in the sophomore year, but only their junior year scores will be considered in determining National Merit Scholarship eligibility.
